Student Shout Out: Penny

Ms. Shelby chose Penny for this weeks student shout out, because it is truly a unique experience to work with her every week! Penny is always up for a challenge and works incredibly hard on everything she says yes to. She takes initiative to find new experiences and projects to contribute to her learning and growth. Her open minded and honest attitude toward singing allow us both to have fun, explore unique material, and grow. Penny makes every lesson interesting and new, and after many years working together, we’re always finding new and fun ways to sing and grow!

Why do you love taking classes at MCCA?

I love taking classes at MCCA because it gives me a space where I can grow as a performer in a supportive environment and I can be myself and have fun while doing it! Also the teachers are just so wonderful and have helped me grow as a person and a performer.

What classes do you take at MCCA?

I take Luminary Jazz, Voice Lessons, and the Junior Theatre Festival Training Class, and in Session 2 I will be taking Holiday Magic!

What do you love to do outside of MCCA?

Outside of MCCA I love to read, play my clarinet in Marching Band, participate in my school’s Student Council and run on my school’s Cross Country team!

What is your favorite subject at school?

My favorite subject is English!

What is your favorite memory from MCCA?

My favorite memory from MCCA is either performing as Lydia in Beetlejuice Jr. over the summer, or performing in Storybook Holiday with MCCA every year!

If you could go anywhere in the world right now where would you go?

Italy or New York City!

Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?

When I grow up I want to be performing professionally - either playing my clarinet in instrumental music or performing Musical Theatre on stage.
