MCCA Teach Profile Ms. Jacki

How long have you been a teacher at MCCA? What do you teach?

This will be my 9th year teaching at MCCA, which is crazy! I teach private piano lessons, Developmental and Pre-Professional Musical Theatre and I direct 1 or 2 musicals each season. I am also MCCA’s Administrative Director.

What are you most excited about for our 10 Year Anniversary

Everything! I’m excited to see our students back in class and to enjoy all of the fun things we have planned!

If you could have a superpower what would you choose?

It would be super helpful to be able to read people’s minds.

If you could have dinner with any two people from history, alive or dead, who would you choose?

Julie Taymor - she is such a trailblazer in the world of Contemporary theatre and I would love to pick her brain! And of course, Katy Geraghty.

Who is your role model and why?

My mom - she is the strongest woman I know and I’m so lucky to have her in my life.

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

It’s always the same answer - New York City, to see EVERYTHING on Broadway!

Outside of MCCA - what else are you involved in?

MCCA keeps me pretty busy! But in the few minutes of spare time I have, I participate on the Board of Directors of FrostburgFirst, help with as many community events as I can, and spend time with my husband and two dogs.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

When people don’t fold laundry correctly. And yes, there is a correct way. :-)

How do you define success?

For me, success is equal to perseverance. Everything doesn’t always work out the way we want it to or expect it to. But if I can look back and know that I have tried my best, stayed kind, positive and motivated, and did everything in my power to succeed - that’s a win in my book.

Describe yourself in three words

Organized, Grateful, Optimistic
