Inside Look at Halloween Spooktacular Show

t’s Sidney here! You usually probably see me down at the front desk or in pre-teen acting class! But here in my digital, internet form, I am here to talk to you about something super cool that I have the opportunity of doing this semester!

It’s finally Fall, so that means we only have a few days until Halloween! I am especially excited this year because I have been given the opportunity to direct MCCA’S Halloween pre-show for the Halloween parade! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love everything spooky, so having the opportunity to direct the pre-show means that I can put all of my spooky creativity to good use! If I am totally honest, I have been planning out details for the pre-show since June (I am just a little bit crazy about Halloween)!

This opportunity has given me the chance to work with the students at MCCA on a directorial level that I have never done before! In years past, I have been the student performing in the show, but never before have I been on the director side. From creating the rehearsal schedule, choreographing dances, to auditioning the students there are a lot of parts to the “behind the scenes” of creating the pre-show that were new to me. I love being able to create a whole theme in relation to the music, choreography, acting, and costumes for the show! Creating a show, although seemingly not hard, can be a lot of work, especially with a busy schedule. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into being a director, from gathering props and costumes to creating and working around rehearsal schedules. Directing the show has been a lot of hard work, but I thoroughly love being able to work with the students, so it’s worth all the hard work and stress!

At this moment, the Halloween group is done the full show! I am so proud of them! Through this show, I have had the opportunity to work with some truly talented and amazing students. All the students, from our youngest performers to our oldest have been able to quickly learn the music and choreography! It’s amazing how skilled and professional students can be. We also have two student choreographers on board with us to help choreograph the show, Karlee Witherite and Reillee Beeman. Both students have been working extremely hard to create really amazing choreography, and I am so glad that I have had their help along the way.

MCCA’s Not so Scary: Halloween Spooktacular is going to be an amazing performance. The students have only had about about a month and a half of practice time before the show, and it’s crazy to see how far along they have come! This is definitely a show you do not want to miss! Come out and see MCCA’s Not so Scary: Halloween Spooktacular Tuesday Oct 30th at 6:00 on Main Street, we will be dying to have you there!

Did you miss out on performing with us for Halloween? Don’t worry there are plenty of opportunities to perform with MCCA in the future!
