1. How has your experience at Mountain City Center for the Arts influenced you?
MCCA allowed me to be myself and make mistakes. I am so thankful for that because it has made my confidence on and off the stage much stronger.
2. Can you share some memorable moments or experiences during your time at Mountain City Center for the Arts?
I have so many amazing memories from my time at MCCA; but, one of my favorite memories was the very first performance (The Travel Song from Shrek the Musical) in the bank building. It was so much fun performing such a fun song with my friends.
My absolute favorite memory would have to be my final showcase as a student at MCCA. The seniors and I all had a staff member talk about each one of us; my person was Jess. Jess has had my back since day one and I am so extremely grateful for her and all of the MCCA staff
3. What do you miss most about MCCA?
The community. The MCCA family was one of my biggest support teams and I am so glad I was able to have them in my life. I miss walking into the building for a class and being greeted by so many kind faces.
4. What is your major in college and why did you choose it?
I am currently a junior at Shenandoah Conservatory where I am getting a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Choral/General) degree.I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I love performing so much but nothing brings me joy like seeing students’ passion for music grow.Â
5. What are your goals after college?!
After graduating next year, my main goal is to be a music teacher in an elementary school. Going to Shenandoah, I had the opportunity to do Field Experience in an elementary school last semester and it was so much fun, I loved teaching those students.
7. Are you still participating in the arts?
I am! I was just in an opera (Cheryomuski by Shostakovich) on the main stage at Shenandoah! I have also continued to take dance classes like ballet, tap, jazz, and modern almost every semester. While at SU, I had the opportunity to go to Venice, Italy, and perform at the Venice Biennale. It was such an amazing experience and I am so thankful to attend a school where I can travel the world and make such amazing memories.Â
8. Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
Before graduating, I was with MCCA since the very first day it opened; it’s crazy to think that it’s the 10-year anniversary!Â
