Top Questions Parents Ask (and Our Honest Answers)

Get answers to the most common parent questions about MCCA classes, from what to wear and how to choose the right class, to make-up policies, private lessons, and more. Find the support you need to help your child thrive in the arts!

1. “How do I choose the right class for my child’s age or ability?”

We invite you to come with an open mind and chat with our friendly MCCA staff! Our amazing teachers are here to help you find the perfect fit for your young artist. We can’t wait to assist you!

2. “What should my child wear or bring to class?”

Each class has its own fun dress code and requirements! Once you’ve chosen a class, your instructor will happily share all the details with you.

3. “Can we try a class before committing?”

Yes! We offer a free trial class(s) so your child can find the right fit.

4. “What if my child is shy or nervous?”

At MCCA, our staff is dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment where your child can feel safe and confident. We believe open communication between teachers and guardians is key to making this happen. Let’s work together to ensure a positive experience!

5. “Is it okay if we miss a class? Can we make it up?”

Conflicts happen, and we understand that every situation is unique. We’re here to help and will do our best to meet your needs! If your child has to miss a class, they are welcome to attend another class (if available) on a different night as a makeup. While we aren’t able to offer refunds or private make-up lessons for missed classes, we’ll always try to accommodate where we can. If a class is canceled by the instructor, a make-up class will be scheduled to ensure your child doesn’t miss out.

6. “How do I help my child practice at home?”

Kids love sharing what they’ve learned in class! Making practice fun can turn it into a great bonding activity. Ask them to put on a mini show or teach you something new—they’ll get to reinforce their skills while building confidence, compassion, and leadership! Instructors will also often share videos in class to practice at home.

7. “Do you offer private lessons or one-on-one support?”

Yes! We offer private lessons for students who are looking for more individualized instruction, whether it’s to build confidence, catch up, or work on advanced skills. One-on-one sessions can be especially helpful for students who prefer a quieter setting or want to focus on a specific area of growth. Just reach out to our MCCA staff and we’ll help you find the right instructor and schedule to meet your child’s needs.

8. “What’s the difference between recreational and accelerated tracks?”

Recreational classes offer a relaxed, fun-focused curriculum with an emphasis on social interaction. Accelerated classes follow a more structured, fast-paced curriculum. Students in the accelerated program receive progress “report cards” each semester and must attend a placement class for enrollment.
