Student Shoutout: Jacquie

Jacquie is the perfect example of a compassionate and courageous artist! She faces new challenges with optimism and proves that with plenty of hard work, she can accomplish anything. This semester, she is inspiring her daughters to be brave as they all prepare to take the stage in the spring showcase! - Skylar, Instructor of Adult Ballet and Hip Hop

MCCA Student Shoutout

I’m so honored to be chosen for a student shoutout—thank you! Skylar has truly helped me believe that I can do hard things, even when they seem totally out of reach at first. She has an amazing way of meeting us exactly where we are, while still encouraging us to reach for that next level. I’ve learned so much and surprised myself more than once. This class has been such a gift—it’s helped me grow, get stronger, and have a lot of fun along the way!

Why do you love taking classes at MCCA?

Because it’s fun and it feels good. The vibe is super welcoming, the instructors are encouraging, and there’s zero pressure to be perfect. I get to move, learn, laugh, and leave class feeling better than when I walked in. What’s not to love?

What classes do you take at MCCA?

Adult Ballet – where we spin, and sometimes wobble, but always have a great time! What do you love to do outside of MCCA? I love hanging out with my family, getting cozy with a good book, listening to music, and diving into whatever fun thing I’m curious about that week.

What is your favorite inspiring quote?

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose” – Dolly Parton

What is your favorite movie?

Tough question! But "The Goonies" and "The Sandlot" always have a special place in my heart. They’ve got adventure, laughs, and the kind of friendship that makes you smile.

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

Pompeii! I’ve always been fascinated by it. There’s something powerful about seeing history frozen in time.

Do you have advice for younger students or other adults who might be nervous to start something new?

It’s totally okay to feel a little nervous when you try something new—everyone feels that way sometimes! But here’s the secret: you are capable of amazing things. And at MCCA, you don’t have to do it alone. The teachers and students are kind, supportive, and always ready to cheer you on. You’ll be met exactly where you are, and you’ll grow at your own pace. So be brave, take that first step, and remember—being yourself is more than enough. You’ve got this, and we’re all here for you!
