New Teacher Profile - Ms. Skylar!

We are so excited to welcome you to the teaching staff at MCCA! What are your first impressions of MCCA now that you are behind the scenes?

  • Woohoo! These first few weeks teaching at MCCA have been SO MUCH FUN. The environment is extremely supportive and uplifting. The teaching and leadership team made sure I felt prepared and empowered to teach, our student ambassadors are incredible role models and a huge help in the studio, and our students blew me away with their kindness and encouragement of one another.

What are you teaching this session?

  • Ballet/Tap 1A & 1C, Ballet/Tap 2B, Teen Hip Hop, Adult Hip Hop, and Adult Ballet; I love the variety!!

Tell us about your background that brought you to teach at MCCA!

  • I discovered MCCA through adult classes. Aging out of dance can be a tough transition, especially for those who grew up dancing, like myself. I appreciate that MCCA creates opportunities for adults to continue pursuing their passions!

Describe MCCA in three words!

  • Inclusive, empowering, inspiring

Describe yourself in three words!

  • Chaotic, creative, sleepy

Outside of MCCA - what else are you involved in?

  • I’m a babysitter most days to the coolest kiddos (shoutout to the fam if you’re reading this!) and a dog mom to the goodest boy, Declan. I enjoy being outdoors, gardening, painting, performing in community theater, and trying new DIY projects on my fixer-upper house. I also love making floral arrangements, so I’m excited to get started on corsages and boutonnieres for homecoming season!

If you could have a superpower what would you choose?

  • Definitely flying, but not like Superman; I want Barbie Fairytopia wings.

If you could have dinner with any two people from history, alive or dead, who would you choose?

  • I never know how to answer this question. How could I possibly pick only two people?! Hmm.. I’d love to see Alexander Hamilton’s reaction to his musical, lol… I’ll keep brainstorming on this one.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

  • Gossip - it drives me bonkers! We can set each other up for success by leading with honesty and kindness :)

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

  • I want to do a Harry Potter film location tour through the UK!
