We are so excited to welcome you to the teaching staff at MCCA! What are your first impressions of MCCA now that you are behind the scenes?
I’ve been having such a great time! Being on the other side of MCCA as a staff member has made me realize that the staff is just as supportive of each other as they are to the students. The team is truly a family that works together to help everyone succeed and make the center run smoothly and efficiently, while also making everyone feel like they have a place where they belong on the staff!
What are you teaching this session?
This session, I have been co-teaching Ballet/Tap 1A, 1B, and 2B with Ms. Jessica! It has been awesome to be in the classroom, training, and learning all the ways of teaching and connecting with my students! Along with that, I have also been on the social media team creating new content each week!
Tell us about your background that brought you to teach at MCCA!
I started at MCCA as a student in the fall of 2017 and never looked back! MCCA was the first place where I felt like I had a place that was truly mine and that I really belonged. During my time as a student, I trained in the Pre-Professional dance program in Jazz, Tap, and Ballet, Musical Theatre, Acting, Voice Lessons, and I was a part of the JTF Company for 4 years. I also participated in many of our spring and summer shows and public performances like Halloween parades, arts walk, and more. Along with all of this, I was a student ambassador for 5 years. This allowed me to get a sense of what it would be like to teach, and this sparked my passion for one day wanting to become a teacher and pass on my knowledge that I had been learning. I am so grateful that I am now getting this opportunity and I cannot wait to keep learning, growing, and educating!
Describe MCCA in three words!
Compassionate, Powerful, Kind
Outside of MCCA - what else are you involved in?
I am a freshman at Frostburg State University, studying Theatre and Mass Communications, in the hopes of continuing my education in business and marketing, theatre, and studying to hopefully become a speech pathologist one day! I am also currently involved with FSU’s production of PUFFS, serving as the Female Swing/Understudy.
If you could have a superpower what would you choose?
I would choose teleportation, so I could be anywhere I wanted anytime I wanted!
If you could have dinner with any two people from history, alive or dead, who would you choose?
I think I would have to choose Taylor Swift and Paul Rudd. I love Taylor and her music, and Paul Rudd was one of my favorite characters in Friends, and I think he is very funny!
What is your biggest pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is uneven numbers. I can’t really explain it, but if the volume is on an uneven number, I have to make it even. I also hate being late!
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
I would go to Greece to live out all of my Mamma Mia dreams!
