We are so excited to welcome you to the teaching staff at MCCA! What are your first impressions of MCCA now that you are behind the scenes?
I’m impressed with the level of communication and camaraderie among the staff. It is a very positive, tight-knit community.
What are you teaching this session?
I will be teaching Ballet/Tap 2, Broadway Stars, and Adult Yoga for the spring. I will also be doing Min & Me and Broadway Kids for the winter session.
Tell us about your background that brought you to teach at MCCA!
I first met Coty and Jacki at FSU in the Theatre department. Once my children were old enough to come to MCCA, we were active in classes. I myself took dance from age 4 through college and have taught off and on for the last 20 years. As a theatre director for Garrett County Public Schools for 14 years, my favorite part of directing was also getting to choreograph for musicals. I am very passionate about dance and theatre and love to spread that passion to others.
Describe MCCA in three words!
Positivity, Creativity, Community
Outside of MCCA - what else are you involved in?
I am on the Board of Directors for Our Town Theatre in Oakland, where I act and direct, as well as run their summer theatre camp for kids and direct their Northern Outreach summer theatre for kids.Â
If you could have a superpower what would you choose?
I would like the power to magically heal others when they are sick or hurt.
If you could have dinner with any two people from history, alive or dead, who would you choose?
I would love to have dinner with Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein) and Shakespeare.Â
What is your biggest pet peeve?
When people are not willing to try something new.
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
I really want to travel to Europe with my family. I want to go all over, but especially to Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
