HAPPY PRIDE!
It’s June, which means it’s nearly time for the Cumberland Pride Festival! MCCA is so excited to be returning to the Pride Festival to celebrate and promote love, diversity, and acceptance in Allegany County, Maryland.
MCCA’s Pride Festival Performances
MCCA will be performing at City Hall in Cumberland at 10:45 AM on Sunday, June 29 to kick off the March to Canal Place, where the Pride Festival is held. Once we arrive at Canal Place, MCCA will also hold the first performance slot on the Main Festival Stage.
Performing at City Hall before the march through Cumberland is something I look forward to every year. It sets the tone for the entire day and is a true moment of celebration, unity, and advocacy for acceptance and rights for the LGBTQIA+ community in Allegany County and beyond.
When/Where
• Rehearsal – Monday, June 16 at MCCA, 3:15 PM – 4:45 PM
• Rehearsal – Wednesday, June 25 at MCCA, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Performance – Sunday, June 29 at Cumberland City Hall, 10:45 AM
Who Can Participate
Any MCCA students, friends, or family members of any age are welcome to perform at Pride! If your student is 7 years old or younger, we ask that you participate in and attend rehearsals and performances with them. People of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to join. You don’t need to be a great singer—MCCA’s Pride performances are about community, love, inclusion, and celebration. Even if you just want to stand with us and smile, we welcome you!
How to Get Involved
Contact Shelby by emailing shelby@mymcca.com or messaging on Band to get involved. If you’re interested in singing a solo, please include that in your message!
What If I Can’t Make It to Rehearsals?
If you can’t make it to rehearsals, we understand! You’re still welcome to join us on performance day. While we can’t guarantee a solo feature without rehearsal, you’re more than welcome to learn the group parts on your own and perform with us. A Band chat will be created with all tracks and materials you’ll need to rehearse at home.
