HELLO MCCA FAMILY!!
We are so excited to be opening the fabulous Elephant and Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” tonight! Based on the family-favorite books by Mo Willems, this joyful show brings Elephant Gerald, Piggie, and their friends the Squirrelles to life! These best friends experience everything from dress-up parties to humongous fights — all in just one hour! With catchy songs, heartfelt scenes, and truly hilarious moments, whether you’re a fan of the books or discovering Elephant and Piggie for the first time, this show has something for you.
Our team has been working so hard to bring you this production. Our wonderful director, Miss Coty Forno, has led this show beautifully, and thanks to the musical direction from Shelby Herbert, it is truly an exceptional production. The ever-talented Brendon McCabe also had a hand in creating this whimsical world through his costume, set, and sound design. All of these aspects are vital in bringing Elephant and Piggie to the stage in such a fun and bright way!
We’re thrilled to have an amazing ensemble of performers, including swings, and
understudies who cover multiple roles. Each show is a unique experience, and we celebrate every version of this cast!

Behind the Scenes: The Magic of Making It Happen
Now onto the best question: How did we get “Elephant and Piggie’s We Are in a Play!” ready for the stage? This show feels like a 3-hour Broadway production crammed into just one hour — with only six people on stage. So let me tell you — it was no small feat. We started rehearsals in mid-March and have only had about 14 rehearsals, which sounds INSANE. We kicked things off by learning the choreography and music, and then dove into blocking, pacing, and shaping each scene and musical number.
Because our cast is made up of adults with actual adult-people lives (jobs, kids, travel, and all the things), rehearsals were a juggling act. But the beauty of this show is that we had covers for every single role — something that seldom happens in such a seamless and supportive way.
The Heart of It All
The best part about this whole process? The fun. When you hear Elephant and Piggie, you might assume it’s just for kids — but this show is genuinely perfect for everyone. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and full of surprises. Throughout rehearsals, we got to be our most fabulous, silly, and wondrous selves. The intimacy of such a small cast gave us room to explore, collaborate, and create something truly special together.
From Matthan rolling on the ground because he can’t find his best friend, to Shelby
literally playing the trumpet live on stage — this show is a whirlwind of joy, laughter, and love.
So bring the kids, bring your inner child, and come experience this zany, heartfelt
adventure with us. We are so proud of what we've created and can’t wait to share it with you.
See you at the theater!
