  • Dance Instructor

Favorite Color:  I tend to rotate through orange, yellow, and pink.

Your role at MCCA:  Dance Teacher

Who would play you in a movie and why?: Hmmm.. it depends on the movie. If I’m living out my fairytale fantasies, I’d choose Elle Fanning for her whimsical yet ethereal charm. For a more accurate representation of my life, it would have to be Zooey Deschanel in a relatable sitcom.

Name a song that describes your teaching style: Dancin (Krono Remix) by Aaron Smith… iykyk

What is your favorite part of being an MCCA Teacher? Connecting with our students!! It’s an honor to collaborate with all our young artists as they grow in courage, confidence, and compassion!

Top 5 words that come to mind when you think of YOUR MCCA: Inclusive, inspiring, innovative, encouraging, home.

Skylar's Bio

Skylar Lane is an educator, dancer, choreographer, singer, and actor. As a dedicated lifelong learner, Skylar joined the MCCA family as an adult student (shoutout to Jess for the tap classes!) and truly could not be more excited to be joining the MCCA staff!

Skylar began her professional career in education, working with students of all ages and abilities. She has experience in special education, curriculum development, program management, professional development, leadership training, and of course, teaching! Skylar is passionate about making education accessible and believes every child should have the opportunity to explore their interests and discover their passions.

Skylar has been dancing for over twenty years. In college, Skylar was captain and choreographer of the Fairmont State University Dance Team. Taking advantage of every opportunity to learn something new, Skylar supplemented her traditional dance training with workshops in swing, ballroom, clogging, square dancing, country line, and diverse cultural folk dances. Skylar is fascinated by the history of dance and admires its significance as a form of expression and communication.

In middle school, Skylar was cast in her school drama club’s first-ever production, and she has been performing with local theatre groups since. She was most recently seen on stage with the Embassy Theatre as Veronica in Heathers the Musical, Cherie in Bus Stop, and Sweet Sally in Murder at the Museum. Skylar loves the thrill of bringing a character to life while entertaining a captive audience.

To work with MCCA is a dream come true. From her very first dance class as a toddler, Skylar knew dance would always be an integral part of her future. They say home is where the heart is, and Skylar’s heart has always been set on dance. Skylar is overjoyed to share her love of the performing arts with the talented and passionate dreamers at MCCA!
