MCCA’s 24 Hour Project: One-Act Play Festival will be held from 2:00pm on Saturday, October 15th until 2:00pm on Sunday, October 16th. The festival will include a collection of One-Act Plays, each with a running time of no more than 20 minutes. Participating Actors, Directors and Stage Managers will begin the Audition process at 2:00pm on Oct. 15th. Once the plays are cast, rehearsals will begin immediately and each team will have the remaining 23 hours to rehearse, memorize and tech their play. The festival will conclude with a performance of the One Act play festival at 2:00pm on Oct. 16th in MCCA’s Studio 4 performance space. All Actors, Directors & Stage Managers will stay at MCCA for the full 24 hours. Food will be provided and all participants should bring an overnight bag, including pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, etc.
All Directors, Stage Managers and Actors are required to pay a $30 participation fee to covermeals, chaperones and production costs.
Open to ages 15 and up, including MCCA students, Alumni, Staff and local community
members. Directors/Stage Managers must submit their completed application by October 1st.
Director & Stage Manager applicants will be assigned a One-Act play at random by the
production team and will receive their script by October 7th. Directors & Stage Managers will be
required to attend a Production Meeting prior to the festival (time & date TBD).
Director Responsibilities include:
Casting your assigned play
Blocking and staging
Working with the stage manager to determine any technical needs (sound cues, costumes, props, and set pieces)
Assisting your cast members with memorizing lines
Leading your group and creating an environment of teamwork and positivity
Stage Manager Responsibilities include:
Assisting the Director with all duties listed above
Keeping track of the schedule and time left to rehearse
Managing all technical aspects of your play
Assisting with Front of house duties
The 24 Hour Project One Act Festival is open to any Actors ages 12-20. Actors will audition and be cast in ONE of the One Act Plays that will be presented on Sunday. Actors should submit their audition form by October 3rd. Actors will have the opportunity to select their top 2 choices of plays that they would like to perform in. ALL participating Actors will be cast in one of the four plays. Actors will be expected to participate in rehearsals and will also be given time to memorize lines. Please note that memorization is required! Directors, stage managers and Staff will help Actors to run and memorize lines during any down time.
The One Act Play Festival will perform on Sunday, October 16th at 2:00pm in MCCA’s Studio 4.
